The "Search" function will help you find listings relating to your area of scientific interest or geographic location. Search the site from the View Jobs Page of the MolecularImaging.org Jobs web-site.

To search the listings, enter your KEYWORDS in the keywords field separated by spaces. The search engine is NOT case-sensitive. Then, from the drop-down menu request the listings that:

  • Contain ANY of your keywords.
  • Contain ALL of your keywords.
  • Contain the exact phrase you entered.

Post a Job Listing
Please follow the instructions on the Post a New Open Position page.

First you must choose which categories your Job Listing will appear under by checking the appropriate boxes. Potential employees may browse or search the site using these categories, so please use them to indicate the type of position that you are seeking to fill. You may select a maximum of three (3) categories.

Next, enter the listing maintence information, including how long you wish the ad to run and a password to be used for ad renewal, editing, or deletion.

Your contact information comes next. Please note that this information WILL APPEAR in your listing. You are not required to leave a phone or fax number or a web-site, however, you must enter information into all of the other fields. This information is what potential employees will use to contact you.

Now you should enter a HEADLINE for your Job Listing. This headline must be less than thirty (30) words. It should be as descriptive as possible. Because the type of position you are seeking to fill is indicated by the categories under which your ad is listed, it is not necessary for the headline to include this information. Ideal headlines briefly describe your areas of scientific interest and expertise, for example:

  • Invasion and Metastasis of Gliomas
  • Mechanisms of Hypoxia-Induced Angiogenesis
  • Director - Center for Molecular Diagnostics
Now, type or paste your Job Listing into the text box at the bottom of the page in plain text or HTML.

Text
A text format Job Listing can be typed directly into the text box or cut and pasted from a word processing program. Please note that when entered as text, bolding, italics, underlining, and other formatting will not not appear in the final online listing. Nevertheless, the MolecularImaging.org Jobs web site will make your Job Listing look visually appealing. Tabs will also be lost, so please use SPACES instead to indent any text. Line breaks will be retained. If you wish to place an empty line between lines of your ad, please use two (2) carrage returns.

HTML
The MolecularImaging.org Jobs site is one of the few that allows you to submit your Job Listing with HTML formatting. Obviously, if you know how to code HTML yourself, you can write or cut and paste your marked-up Job Listing directly into text box. If you are not familiar with HTML, there are many editors (including Microsoft Word and FrontPage Express or Netscape Composer) that will automatically mark up your pre-formatted document. In this case, use the program to create your HTML and simply copy it into the text box. It is especially useful to mark-up any publications listed in your Job Listing so that there are links directly to the article's Medline abstract. The National Center for Biotechnology Information PubMed system is a free port to Medline. You may wish to search for the key publications here and link your papers to their abstract's URLs.

If you submit your Job Listing in HTML, please follow the these conventions:

  • Do NOT bold everything, it annoys potential employees browsing the site.
  • Do NOT change text or background colors. They may clash with the look of the MolecularImaging.org Jobs site and make your ad look less attractive.
  • All hyperlinks or images in your resume should be absolute; that is, "http://hostname/" must be part of the URL. Relative URLs will NOT appear correctly online.
The MolecularImaging.org Jobs server will process your Job Listing after you click the continue button. If there are any errors in your submission the server will prompt you to make the appropriate corrections. Otherwise your information will be displayed and you will be asked to review it. You may then choose to either modify what you have entered or submit your Job Listing for final posting.

After you submit your Job Listing, a confirmation screen will appear detailing your ad information and showing you how your ad will appear on the MolecularImaging.org Jobs site. Please print this page for your records, in case you need to renew, edit, or delete your ad sometime in the future.

TIPS FOR AN EFFECTIVE JOB LISTING
Many potential employees search the MolecularImaging.org Jobs site for Job Listings using keywords. Thus, it is important for you to include relevent keywords in your Job Listing. Note that the MolecularImaging.org Jobs search engine looks in BOTH the body of your Job Listing and your headline, thus your keyword has to appear in only one of these sections. The more keywords you include in your Job Listing, the greater the chance it will be found by a potential employee. Although the body of your Job Listing is limited generously to 5000 words, the most effective ads are less than 500 words.

Lost or Forgotten Ad Number
You need your Ad number in order to renew, modify, or delete your ad. If you have misplaced or forgotten your Ad number, you can find it by searching for words that you know are in your ad. It is convenient to search for your name using the "Find ads with the exact phrase above" option.

Lost or Forgotten Password
For security purposes, you need your Ad Password in order to renew, modify, or delete your ad. If you have misplaced or forgotten your password, please send a message to webmaster@molecularimaging.org and we will send you your password.
Renew Exisiting Ad
You will be remined by an automated E-Mail 10 days before your ad's expiration date. You may renew your ad on or before the posted expiration date. At 11:30 pm on the expiration date, your ad will be deleted from the MolecularImaging.org Jobs system.

Please note that your ad will be given a new ad number when it is renewed. You must make a note of this new ad number to allow you to renew, edit, or delete this ad again in the future.

You may have noticed that the ads matching a search or browse query are returned with the most recently posted ads at the top of the list. To prevent individuals from renewing their ads hourly to keep their listing "on top," you are only allowed to renew your ad 6 times.

We suggest that you renew your ad each month until it is no longer needed. This lets people who may be interested in your listing know that the ad is still active and "new".

Modify Exisiting Ad
You may modify your ad on or before the posted expiration date. To modify your currently active ad, go to the Utilities page.
Delete Exisiting Ad
If your open postion is filled before your MolecularImaging.org Jobs ad expires, we ask that you please delete your ad from our system. This will keep the MolecularImaging.org Jobs site current and maximize its utility for the molecular imaging research community. It will also prevent you from receiving unwanted responses to your listing. To delete your ad, go to the Utilities page.
